Duncanville first: what we know about the home base

Duncanville covers about 11.2 square miles in the southwest corner of Dallas County, with US Route 67 through the eastern part of the city and Interstate 20 through the northern part. The city counted 14,227 housing units in 2020. Crews work in 75116 and 75137, and 75138 is nearby.

The city buys treated surface water from the City of Dallas, so a pressure drop on the street may start upstream. Report street-side leaks to the city utility, then call us for water inside the house.

What changes from town to town

Each of the four neighbors has its own utility, permit office and flood office, so the first call changes with the address. The town pages list those numbers so you do not lose time searching.

If your address sits between two towns, call anyway. Dispatch confirms which crew can reach you and what to do in the meantime.

Cedar Hill and DeSoto: the Best Southwest neighbors to the south

Cedar Hill runs its own water and sewer, and the city owns the line up to and including the meter. Past the meter the pipe is the homeowner's. DeSoto buys its water from Dallas Water Utilities and handled about 400 burst pipe and shutoff calls in the 2021 winter storm.

Both cities have their own permit and inspection offices, and both send flood map questions to dedicated contacts. Their pages list the numbers.

Lancaster and Grand Prairie: east and north

Lancaster has two ZIP codes and a 24-hour inspection request line. Grand Prairie spans three counties and has four ZIP codes, and its floodplain plan puts about 36 percent of city land in the floodplain. A leak that is an annoyance in one town can be a flood question in the other, which is why the pages differ.

Both are served by the same crews and the same emergency line.

Before the crew arrives, anywhere in the area

The first steps are the same in every town. They are also the ones that save the most money, because each wet hour adds to the drying time and to the list of materials that cannot be saved.

Do these while you wait for dispatch

  • Close the main water shutoff, or ask the city for help if you cannot find it.
  • Switch off power to wet rooms only if the panel is dry and you can reach it safely.
  • Move valuables, rugs and electronics out of the water.
  • Keep children and pets out of sewage or flood water.
  • Take photos and video of every wet surface for your insurer.
  • Call the emergency line and give your street address and ZIP code.

How coverage works

Call the same number from any of these towns. Dispatch confirms the address and sends a crew when one is available. Outside these towns, call anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we can reach you.

Crews work to the published ANSI/IICRC S500 and S520 standards, and you can ask for that in writing. Every service on the services page is available across the area, from water removal and drying to repair and mold work. If a town is not on this list, tell dispatch which street you are on and the answer will be honest, even when the answer is that another company is closer.
